How to Make a Homopolar Motor
 

In this science experiment, we explore the relationship between electricity and magnetism by building a homopolar motor.  Watch as the Lorentz Force causes the wire to spin because the magnetic fields of the permanent rare earth magnet and the wire carry the electrical current.To use this experiment for a science fair project, consider questions like: Does the thickness of the wire affect the behavior of the motor? Do different magnet strengths cause different outcomes?
